What Goes into GAF Master Elite Certification?

What Goes into GAF Master Elite Certification?

General Aniline & Film (GAF) is America’s leading roofing and waterproofing products manufacturer. It is one of the oldest roofing companies spanning around 125 years in business, and has a solid reputation for being competent and reliable. They provide comprehensive training for roofers, making their certification very desirable.

GAF certification is demanding, and only 2% of roofers have attained its certification standards. When scouting for a roofing company, it is important to look for GAF-certified contractors. These contractors have undergone rigorous training and high screening processes to ensure their services are up to standard. Besides undergoing the GAF training program, roofing companies that seek the certification must meet the following prerequisites:

Requirements

To obtain a GAF Master EliteTM Certification, a  roofing company must have original business permits from the state and municipal. Business licenses prove that a roofing company can genuinely do the work they claim to do. The company needs to have a minimum of seven years of experience as a certified roofer. The roofing company should possess an excellent public image with its clients and the community. They should also have sound liability and employee compensation.

GAF Master Elite Certification is not a one-time achievement. It is a continuous process where you must undertake regular training to keep up with technological advancements in the roofing industry. GAF inspects many roofs installed by certified companies to ensure they uphold their standards.

Certification

GAF has three levels of certifications:

Authorized Contractor – any contractor in this level can provide all GAF products and the system plus limited warranty.

Certified Contractor – these contractors have authorized contractor benefits and professional training in new application and maintenance methods. This level ensures that the licensed Contractor upholds an A+ BBB (Better Business Bureau) rating that GAF confirms.

Master Elite Contractor – the highest distinction with all the certified contractor privileges and special access to the golden pledge limited warranty. This exclusive warranty cushions homeowners even if the installer closes their business.

Warranties

Even though roofing companies must have a perfect reputation in the community, mistakes sometimes happen, which could have dire consequences on homeowners. To cushion their clients from financial burdens resulting from their services, GAF-approved companies support their work using warranties. Three levels of warranty reinsurance offered by GAF include:

1. Golden Pledge Warranty

This warranty is a non-recurring, transferable guarantee that gives 100% roof coverage for its entire life. It covers the replacement or repair of your shingles resulting from craft flaws for 25 years, including demolition and disposal costs.

A GAF roofing contractor will replace or repair any roofing issues caused by a botched installation or defective materials. This warranty gives a 40-point problem prevention inspection of completed roofing projects, the most thorough roof inspection in the business.

2. Silver Pledge Warranty

The silver pledge warranty is the mid-tier guarantee that covers any defective roof material or any other issue caused by the manufacturer for the roof’s lifetime. It offers a ten-year guarantee on sloppy workmanship and includes demolition and disposal. It has a one-time validity and can only be transferred once.

3. Systems Plus Warranty

This basic cover gives two-year coverage for faulty workmanship and lifetime coverage for defective materials. It covers demolition but excludes disposal costs and can be transferred once.

To be eligible for any of the warranties above, homeowners must use GAF products installed by a GAF Master Elite Certified contractor. Aside from the lifetime warranty on GAF shingles and faulty workmanship guarantee, GAF products have a smart choice protection period of 50 years and a wind warranty of 15 years.

Why GAF Certification?

GAF Master Elite contractors are the only roofers who offer the most powerful and extensive warranty in the roofing industry. The golden pledge warranty gives roofers perks such as superior quality products and services exclusive to GAF Master Elite roofers.

GAF’s strict requirements to obtain certification assure customers that the Contractor has undergone rigorous training and evaluation to give them premium services. It also gives homeowners the confidence that their Contractor has good ethical practices and is creditworthy, minimizing the chances of getting conned.

GAF certification ensures the Contractor is always up to date with new installation methods, advanced roofing systems, new roofing materials, and applications in the industry. Continuous training keeps contractors a step ahead of their competitors. The GAF badge is a duly earned distinction and cannot be bought, which maintains the authenticity of products.

The GAF roofing process is tailored to the roofing material provided for your home, guaranteeing professional installation. These professionals use their training to troubleshoot solutions to any roofing problems you might encounter at no cost using their extensive educational materials and tools. Professionalism gives a homeowner peace of mind, knowing their roof is for life.
