FAQ on GAF® Warranty Coverage

When choosing new roofing shingles, it’s important to remember that quality matters. That’s why if you’re not sure about the quality of a certain roofing material, it’s best to stick to reputable brands such as GAF®. Aside from trusted quality, you can rely on, using GAF roofing shingles has other advantages. For starters, GAF® roofing shingles are covered by the GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty, which also comes with all qualifying GAF accessories.

STARR Roofing & Gutters, your trusted residential and commercial roofing contractor, compiled a quick FAQ on GAF warranty coverage.

What Does the GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty Cover?

The  GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty is the standard GAF warranty and covers material defects for up to 10 years.

Will the GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty Provide Enough Protection for Your Roof?

The short answer would be that it depends on your needs. If you need warranties with wider coverage, you can consult a GAF Master Elite™ contractor. GAF roofing systems installed by Master Elite contractors are eligible for exclusive warranties.

Some of these exclusive warranties are:

  • Golden Pledge® Warranty – The Golden Pledge warranty is GAF’s strongest warranty. It covers manufacturer defects for the roofing shingle’s entire lifetime and any workmanship errors for 25 years
  • Silver Pledge™ Warranty – The Silver Pledge warranty covers all manufacturer defects for a shingle’s entire lifetime but has a shorter coverage period of 10 years for workmanship errors.
  • Systems Plus Warranty – The System Plus Warranty also covers manufacturer defects for the entirety of a shingle’s entire lifetime but only covers workmanship or installation errors for two years.

Does Your Warranty Need to Be Registered?

The GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty and the GAF Roofing System Limited Warranty don’t require registration. However, you should keep the receipts from the supply store where you bought the shingles for your roof replacement. You’ll need to submit these, along with your contract with the roofer who handled your roof installation, in the unlikely event you need to file a claim.

Here’s a tip: we recommend storing all your important roofing documents in one roofing file.
